Sports Champ!

Sports Champ was held on 14th January 2012 from 10am - 5pm. There were a total of 3 sports: Basketball, Street Soccer and Captains Ball. It was indeed scorching hot on that day, but nevertheless
all of us (participants and EXCOs and helpers) had a great time!

Camp Eagle

Camp Eagle was held on 19th November 2011 and was organised by S.I.T. Club

We are now back better than ever! It is the newly improved iStudy Programme!

iStudy Programme is a programme for Year 1s to clarify doubts to their tutors (from
Year 2/Year 3) and also for them to ask for guidance/secrets of various modules.
Through this programme, our aim is for the Year 1s to have a better understanding
of the modules that they are unsure of and also for them to achieve their desirable grades.

Annual General Meeting '11/12

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of S.I.T. Club is a meeting for important officials, held yearly to announce the new batch of Executive Committee Members (Excos) of the board and to inform the management of all the Club's activities.

This year's AGM was held on 16th September 2011, 11am at Block L, Lecture Theatre 3 (LTL-3).
This year, we have the Director of S.I.T., Mr Lai Poh Heng, as well as other respectable figures to grace this ceremony.

Adventure Carnival 2011 includes various exciting and never before seen games like ‘Catch em’ all’, ‘Watermelon Festival’, Soapy Slide and etc. It also provides an opportunity for students from S.I.T. and S.C.L. to interact and bond together. All this games will be held at various location within the NYP campus.

Therefore, you are invited to join us in this event where you will enjoy a whole new experience of games. And also, being the first collaboration between School of Information Technology (SIT) Club and School of Chemical and Life Sciences (SCL) Club, we guarantee there will be awesome fun.

HEARTZOUT'11/12

HeartzOut 11/12 planners, helpers and EXCOs gathered on Saturday, the 30th of July 2011,

to witness the happening of HeartzOut 11/12,

an event which aims to bring joy and happiness to young children,

and instill important values that will benefit the children in their future.

These are the EXCOs who came along :)

Raniel and Nabilah were the Overall-In-Charge (OIC) for this meaningful event,

and together with the other planners and helpers, they led the children around Jurongville Secondary School,

to play their ice-breakers and station games :)

Although the children were split into 5 different groups,

they were also given the chance to mingle with other groups,

during the origami session and performances that all the planners, helpers and EXCOs brought for them :)

The HeartzOut 11/12 event ended with our OICs expressing their appreciation and gratitude by taking a group picture with the following people:

HeartzOut 11/12 was a huge success as planners and helpers were able to run the event pretty smoothly, and and the children from Loving Hearts Centre had fun interacting with all our helpers :)

STANDOUT'11/12

On Friday, the 22nd of July 2011, all planners and helpers gather to help out in the first-ever StandOut 11/12 competition, which aims to motivate and boost the confidence of the participants,

so that they will be able to bring out their best talents & showcase them, in front of a live audience.

Here are our StandOut Judges (from left to right) :

After the first round of competition, the Top 3 finalists emerged,
and they go all out to compete for the next round (:

The audience were given the chance to vote for their favourite participant(s) via SMS,
and the lines closed at 9.15pm sharp that night.

Our 2nd Runner-up was... Aysha!

Impressing us with her amazing belly dance performance,

she came in third and won $100 worth of Capita vouchers!

Our 1st Runner-up was the Acoustic Duo, Frederick and Hakim!

They sang a medley of songs, like Breakeven and Fall For You, which moved our judges and audience,

and they walked away with $150 worth of Capita vouchers!

Last but not least, Ya!Ben? displayed their awesome dance moves and together,

both guys emerged as Champion for the StandOut competition!

They won $250 worth of Capita vouchers,

and with that, the StandOut competition officially comes to an end.

To sum it up, StandOut 11/12 was a fun-filled night,

and though this event is the first of its kind,

all planners and helpers did their best to make StandOut 11/12 a success, by ensuring the crowd was settled and to ensure there was no major hiccups in the flow of the event.

Have you heard of the Silver Infocomm Day?

The Silver Infocomm Day Series is an annual event where IDA works jointly with industry and community to enrich the infocomm learning experience of senior citizens. From 2007, more than 4500 senior citizens had attended the 3-in-1 event (talks, exhibition and hands-on training) featuring the latest in infocomm lifestyle trends.

The Silver Infocomm Curriculum aims to achieve the following:

- Setting up infocomm access facilities & offering training,

- Increase infocomm literacy among senior citizens, with a set of IT skills curriculum.

As such, we are recruiting helpers to help out for this event.

Helpers will be given roles at registration counters, cyber guides, or ushers.

STANDOUT'11/12 is an event planned by our Year 2 Students, which aims to provide opportunities for all S.I.T. Students and Alumni to showcase their talents (be it singing, dancing, acrobatics, and many many more), either as a group or an individual.

Being in this event will serve as an enriching experience, as participants will get to obtain valuable characteristics like on-stage charisma, highly competitive spirits and self-motivation, which will ultimately groom each participant to be a better person.

Rounds of auditions will be held, and there will be judges to judge the participants based on overall performance.

Attractive prizes will be awarded for winners, so do prepare for your showcase :)

If you wish to join, these are just a few guidelines to take note of:

You may choose to join solo, or as a group of maximum 5 people,
Performance item must not be anything obscene, political, racist or sexist,
Performance language is bound strictly to English,
You are only required to display one performance item, and not multiple,
Participants are only open to ALL S.I.T. Students, and alumni,
Late submissions will not be entertained, so any entries submitted after the given deadline will not be accepted.

HeartzOut is an annual event organised by students in School Of Information Technology. This year's theme is "Joyful Sunshine, Smiling Hearts". The objective of this community event is to bring Fun, Joy and Laughter to the children. Thus we will be recruiting helpers for this meaningful event around week 9. We will be hosting rooms at Level 6 (L.606 – L.608 & L.641) on every WEDNESDAY from 2pm – 4pm, OFFICIALLY starting from WEEK 7 for EVERYONE to come and study together.

Every week, different modules such as Programming Language (HTML, Java, C# etc.) will be taught in different rooms, revised by our tutors if you need help! Name the module that you need help in, we will try to help you as much as we can.

FURTHERMORE, come for 4 lessons of tutoring to clear your doubts and ENJOY A CUP OF KOI bubble tea. YES, IT IS KOI!

Self-study is encouraged as well but there will not be any free koi for self-study.

This year's FMO'11/12 Theme: Endeavour To Dream High!
FMO'11/12 was held on the 6, 7 & 8 April 2011.

Camp Eagle 10/11 :)

Camp Eagle 10/11 is an annual student leader camp that helps students realise their leadership potential.

This camp was held on Saturday, 13 November 2010 and it was a single day camp.

All S.I.T. Club Excos were present to organize and carry out this awesome event! :)

These are some of the group pictures we took during the camp itself :

This is our dearest President, David making his speech to the participants :)

During this camp, the participants had fun playing the team bonding games we have planned for them,

Some groups did forfeit,

Some combined their forfeits together...

Besides dry team bonding games, we had wet games too.

There were 7 participants who put their heads and teamwork together,

to form a high "pyramid" :)

We also had a banner competition where teams are required to brainstorm and come up with a banner which will constitute of their team's uniqueness

and the values they think makes a great leader :)

Apart from that, a cheer competition was also held, and we had teams

displaying their loud and enthusiastic cheers inside LT-L3 :)

S.I.T club will be hosting a S.I.T. Study Group on every Wednesday for all students of School of Information Technology!
This study group is created for students who needs help in their academic studies, as well as finding a conducive environment to study and for group project discussion purposes.
If you have burning questions that you need help for your academic studies, feel free to approach our friendly peer tutors who will be there to guide you and give you advices!
The Study Group for S.I.T. will commence, starting from Week 3 of the School Semester, and ends by Week 17.
Please minimise your noise level so as to be considerate to the rest of the students who are using the tutorial rooms for revision.
No registration is required for this study group, so please feel free to come and join us for the study group!
Get your friends along for some study group session for 2 hours a week! It will definitely be very fruitful !

Annual General Meeting' 10/11

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of S.I.T. Club is a meeting for important officials, held yearly to announce the new batch of Executive Committee Members (Excos) of the board and to inform the management of all the Club's activities.

This year's AGM was held on 21st September 2010, 11am at Block L, Lecture Theatre 3 (LTL-3).

This year, we have the Director of S.I.T., Mr Lai Poh Heng, as well as other respectable figures to grace this ceremony.

Here's a summary of what happened on that day:

First of all, we have the Director of S.I.T. Mr Lai, who gave a motivating speech.

Next was the President of S.I.T. Club'09/10,

Ling Yijie who gave his speech.

Soon after, it was time for Yijie to pass down The Golden Book to the next president of S.I.T. Club.

This is the current President for S.I.T. Club'10/11,

Nga Bang Yan David from Financial Informatics (DFI),

leading his batch of new Excos to recite the oath.

Another augural event is coming up not long soon enough, what more can it be other than the Annual General Meeting. The current batch of Executive Committee members will step down gloriously after serving the club for a year and the new batch will continue the generation, following the tradition and applying what they've learnt from their seniors. S.I.T. Club will then soar to greater heights!

NYP Celebrates YOG!

On the 6th August 2010, the journey of the Youth Olympic Torch arrived at Singapore.

On the 7th August 2010 19:00, the Youth Olympic Torch arrives and enters the welcoming hands of NYP.

On the 7th August 2010 19:12, the Youth Olympic Torch with its flame on lights the podium on fire at NYP.

This indeed is a remarkable and reputable event for Singapore and of course, NYP for being such an amazing host.

It's Singapore's first time hosting the Youth Olympic Games and NYP is proud that the olympic torch's first destination is NYP itself. Many distinguished guests; not forgetting the Guest of Honour - Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong, join us as we celebrate YOG in NYP. Hooray! =D

The Conclusion of HeartzOut and BandzOut

HeartzOut concluded with an imaginary kiss on everyone's cheeks from the cute little children from Children's Home Society (Yishun). Thanks to the volunteers, the children had brought back mesmerizing memories on that day and they had learnt how to use Microsoft Paint which would definitely be useful for the rest of their lives. Also, we're thankful to the hosts for allowing us be part of the community to serve the children there.

BandzOut ended with a tremendous bang. The crowd went wild and the judges were amazed by the musical talent of the participants. We'll like to show our appreciation here to MacDonalds for proudly sponsoring us beverages and the following guest bands: Autumn Atlantic, Cotton Island and Suicide Solution for joining us that night. Without you guys, the event wouldn't have been any better.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the rainy weather had caused SportsChamp to arrive to a premature stop. We apologized for the inconvenience caused and made the decision to postpone to a later date; considering everyone's safety and welfare.

Nevertheless, we did have a champion for the Captain's Ball category. CONGRATULATIONS! They'd gotten themselves a medal and a couple of Addidas vouchers each. What's more, they stood a chance to challenge the executive committee who had organized this sporting event.

We sincerely hope the rest of the participants will return and compete on the postponed date that will be announced sooner or later to join in the fun and conclude SportsChamp successfully. This event aims to showcase the Champion and Sportsmanship sprit in every single one of you.

Hi, thanks to all who had tagged your messages on the tagboard

Now I'm here to reply all of them (:

For all sports, it can be played mixed gender (meaning both males & females can form one team) But if you insist in playing in a all males' or all females' team, we have no restrictions either. (:
All sports will start at the same time, so one participating team can only participate in one sport.
Prizes for this competition will be medals and Adidas vouchers.
Timings for the games are designed that way for a reason, so please do respect the timings that the S.I.T. planners had set. (Thank You Very Much!)
Lastly, please keep our tagboard free from verbal conflicts. (Thank You Very Much again :D)

Camp Eagle 2009 has officially arrived to a complete stop, with bright smiles on our freshly-brewed newly-nurtured leaders! Without their enthusiasm and cooperation, the event will still be a dull one no matter how much effort we put in. Excellent leaders!

We hope after this painstaking journey of this camp, all of us will learn something new in our life. One of our most sustainable competitive advantages will be developing what it's called a Culture of Leadership.
